GILT Metrics eXchange (GMX)
GILT Metrics eXchange (GMX) is a family of proposed standards concerning translation-related metrics. The period of public review will end August 15, 2005, at which time OSCAR will consider feedback and revise the standard as needed to meet public needs.
The three components of GMX are:
Volume (V)
GILT Metrics Volume addresses the issue of quantifying the workload for a given localization or translation task. This is often commonly referred to as word counts. Word counts, however, do not convey the true range of possible statistics that can be used to assess the cost of localizing a document. GILT Metrics Volume is a more precise definition of the statistics necessary for translation billing and sizing purposes. Complexity (C)
GMX-C will quantify the complexity of translation tasks. This format has not yet been defined. Quality (Q) GMX-Q will specify the quality requirements for translation tasks. This format has not yet been defined. |
